Director of Development and Communications

The Director of Development and Communications will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a portfolio of donors and prospects as well as marketing and promoting the activities of Seventy Five North and the Highlander neighborhood.

Development Responsibilities

  • Identify, cultivate and solicit philanthropic support by developing and maintaining relationships with donors.

  • Support fundraising strategies and activities to ensure proper acknowledgment, recognition and stewardship of donors

  • Develop and lead comprehensive annual campaigns to include appeals, monthly donors, ecampaigns, stewardship and increasing average gift amounts

  • Oversee progress, deadlines, goals and objectives related to annual giving, corporate giving and planned giving

  • Assist in strategic planning activities to implement fundraising goals and objectives.

Communications Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute communication strategies to tell the story of the Seventy Five North and the Highlander neighborhood with external audiences

  • Recommend, drive, and support interviews, op-eds, and other media engagements

  • Manage press inquiries and build strong relationships with various media outlets

  • Development a proactive outreach to North Omaha audiences to promote events and programming in Highlander

  • Update and maintain information on website, social, and media campaigns

  • Ensure brand and messaging create a visual unity and voice that is integrated across all platforms Content Development & Storytelling

  • Responsible for planning and creating engaging content for social media, digital marketing, email newsletters, promotional materials, toolkits, event materials and PR pitches.


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in English, public administration, business, communications, marketing or related field preferred but not required

  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and donor engagement

  • Minimum of five years demonstrated successful experience developing and stewarding a donor portfolio

  • Record of developing communication strategies to meet goals, anticipating and successfully identifying communications opportunities

  • Exceptional writing, editing and verbal communication skills • High attention to detail and deadlines

  • Demonstrated project management skills, ability to juggle short-term and long-term tasks/responsibilities

  • Ability to create and execute integrated marketing/communication plans, including the development of goals, deliverables and timelines, and delivering results.
