Mental Health First Aid

As part of Community Health Improvement Week, we are offering Mental Health First Aid—an instructor-led, in-person training session designed to teach you how to support someone who may be facing a mental health or substance use challenge.

Mental health issues affect millions each year, and it’s likely that someone within your community will face these challenges. Are you prepared to help them? This training will empower you to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health struggles and substance use issues, and equip you with an action plan to respond effectively.

With mental health stigma often keeping people from speaking up or seeking help, this course gives you the knowledge and confidence to step in when needed, providing support and connecting individuals with the appropriate resources.

By participating in this training, you’ll not only gain valuable skills for yourself but also contribute to building a more resilient, supportive community. It’s about creating an environment where everyone feels cared for and empowered to seek help when necessary.

  • How to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges

  • Effective strategies for responding to someone in need

  • How to provide initial support and connect individuals with the appropriate resources
