We’re Working for Justice, Not Gentrification

You may be asking yourself, What is the difference between “planned redevelopment” and “gentrification?” Well, we’re glad you asked!

When we talk about developing a mixed-income neighborhood in North Omaha we’re not talking about unchecked gentrification; we’re talking about justice here. Through careful listening and imaginative thinking with local residents, business owners, educators, nonprofits, city planners and property developers we are creating a holistic response to poverty in Omaha. Something that does real good for the people who need it most.

This article by Bob Lupton of FCS Urban Ministries in Atlanta, GA does a great job of explaining how good urban development protects the interests of the poor. This is what we’re doing at 75 North. We hope you’ll read it and let us know what you think!

75 North exists for one purpose: to build healthy, sustainable, mixed-income communities within the Highlander neighborhood of North Omaha. We’ve been working to build a community within a community since 2011.
